Wrong genre, this clearly falls under drum and bass. Aside from that, pretty good mix. could use some deeper bass though. the drums feel a little weak though.

Manhart responds:

Hi JasAce5! Thank you for the review. I don't know about your sound system, but I think the bass is almost too much on both my headphones and my speakers.
I agree on putting it under DnB instead of techno :-) Don't know what I was thinking..!
The weak drums might be because of a limiting effect making them weaker while many sounds are being played at same time :P I think I feel that myself, though it is hard to fix since I don't really use a limiter.

Relaxing, but there's this sense of urgency melded into the song, a nice harmony, if you ask me. The song didn't overly grab me as super awesome, but still great work nonetheless. Nice choice of synths and bass blend into the background creating a smooth-like feel to the track. The track is kinda quiet though. Keep up the good work!

johnfn responds:

Thanks! Yeah, I'm generally not a fan of loud or epic music - I think that there's a lot more that can be done with understatement. In fact if you dug through my older music you'd find this is one of the most 'epic' things I've done. Still, thanks!

I like the piano. What I didn't like was how the song was so quiet. It feels like the song is lacking something. The piano is really the only driving force of this song. The bass just feels like it was added as an afterthought. This song imho lacks depth as a Trance mix.

Stargenx responds:

Thanks for the review! Do you have any idea what it is lacking? I would so like to know so that it can improve.

From what I heard, this song reminds me of water droplets dripping from a ceiling or cave. so how about, Rave in Cave ? or Rain Drops.

I think you have this song in the wrong category... This sounds more like industrial than techno. But anyway...

Synths... good
Bass... very good

The song felt a little shallow though, maybe you could add more synths or material to the song? I get that industrial is supposed to be repetitive like that, but what started in the beginning continued throughout the entire song and never changed. The song built up for something and just kept the bar right at the buildup, repeating.

I didn't really like the fact that the ending was so abrupt.

AliceMako responds:

Industrial techno is still techno, feel free to correct me, but you'll have to forgive me for making the best of the minimalistic genre distinctions here. (pet peeve of mine)

I gave up on posting full tracks here, my experience is that they perform poorly given the kind of music i typically produce, your statement that you find this repetitive already highlights exactly this point and only reinforces my bias.

So no 8 minute version unless a LOT of people say pretty please with sugar on top :3

Lack of substance, well this is a fairly crowded piece with not a lot of headroom so i'm just going to disagree with you on adding synths, the ending i could draw out for a bit so i'll see what i can do.

Sorry you didn't enjoy it.

Listening....

Violin... Ew, please change that awful violin at 0:10... sounds very midi.
Bass... okay
Drums ... good
Overall sound quality... decent

ResEve responds:

Lol thanks, yeah it was the only violin sound the program has, and I had made this like 2 years ago.

Could be better.

I would change the main synth, or add another one, because the song feels flat. Don't get me wrong, I do like what you have made so far, but I think you can do a lot more to the song. Also, i would suggest changing up the drumbeat/bass a little to spice it up some more too.

I just finished listening to the whole thing.

1. I realize this is dubstep, but where is the main part of the song? I couldn't hear it.
2. the bass is excellent, but it feels like its seriously missing something to complement that bass.
3. Because the main tune or main part of the song was not overly prevalent, this song is easily forgettable.

Basically this song feels like an ambient track with really good bass.

i9incher responds:

well I was more so going for that sorta ambient, calming feel. I don't really like tracks that are just like "this is high and in your face dubstep, blah!" I more so wanted to have a nice build with it, just something to bob your head to, nothing to really go crazy over. the main part would be the part at 122, which is also played again toward the end.

Hmm. I can definitely tell you got bored with this song halfway through. For one, I didn't like the intro. I think it didn't really fit with the song. kinda like a circle pin trying to fit in a square hole. The song was kinda repetitive, but not really in a good way. The bass was excellent in this song though. I really like how you arranged it, despite being repetitive in the end. Good try though.

Even though I already PMed you, and e-mailed you, could you please tell me how you are doing on the mix I requested?

DjClyme responds:

for starters, when i said i got bored, what i meant -and probably should have made more clear- was that this was supposed to be a very fast dance song instead of being a hip hop-ish track. I in no way "threw in the towel" so to speak when i was halfway through with the song. I merely got bored of the genre a was /going/ to make this in. I actually had a lot of fun, and put a good deal of time into this track.

First off, this is not dubstep at all. This more along the lines of ambient or DnB music.

I'm rating this a 3.5 star out of 5 stars. The song was almost non-existant. It had the same drum beat the entire song. Try varying the drum beat a little would make it more interesting. Your synths sound great, I like the inclusion of the piano at the end of the song. I still feel like this song is lacking any form of melody and that what im hearing is background for a melody that never comes.

DJDuk responds:

Thanks but this is my own personal taste. I can't really take advise from people I cannot be sure know anything about me or my style but thanks for commenting. Listening to your sole track that you have posted I am not reassured by your music knowledge or background. therefore I thank you again for the advise, but I don't want to change anything. And for the record dubstep means: a genre of electronic dance music that originated in South London, United Kingdom. Its overall sound has been described as "tightly coiled productions with overwhelming bass lines and reverberant drum patterns, clipped samples, and occasional vocals.
